What Santa Wants for Christmas
Traditionally, the Christmas cookie is/was simply a 'sugar cookie', although many varieties exist based on family traditions, and/or individual preferences. The sweet treats are availble in various shapes usually
representing traditional christmas icons. Since the 1930s, children in the US have been leaving a plate
of cookies and a glass of milk on a table for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve; no wonder his belly is
like a 'bowl full of jelly'.
The traditionally homemeade cookies are often cut into such shapes as those of candy canes, reindeer,
and holly leaves but, Santa wants other kinds of cookies like Oreo Cookies, and Chocolate Chip cookies too.
Some children also like to leave treats for the reindeer, such as carrots and apples.
